Advanced Florida Master Naturalist Jill Lingard has a decade of experience working with and volunteering for the Florida Springs Institute. Much of her learning has come through the SpringsWatch program. Using the Weeki Wachee River as her lens, Jill will share her citizen science journey to understanding the health of and impacts to these "liquid pools of light." She'll also explain how FPMN members can turn a fun day at the springs into research that helps to support them, and even give a few lucky paddlers the opportunity to participate in a Weeki Wachee SpringsWatch monitoring session in April. Enjoy a fun and educational day on the river with fellow springs-lovers as everyone helps collect data which helps support this system. Florida Springs Institute volunteers and FPMN members Jill Lingard and Scott Jantz will provide on-the job training on the use of all equipment and share stories and lessons learned from leading this SpringsWatch group over the past six years. |
