Join the Friends of Pinellas Master Naturalists on a night hike along the Osprey trail in search of the elusive Florida Iridescent Scorpion (Centuroides hentzi).
We will meet at 7:45 pm (park closes at sunset so get in before) at the northern end of the Honeymoon Island State Park picnic area parking lot (near the entrance to the Osprey Trail). While we are waiting for dark we will discuss the morphology and behavior of this common yet little-known subspecies of scorpions found on the St. Petersburg peninsula. This leisurely walk of approximately one to one-and-a-half miles will be led by two Advanced Florida Master Naturalists, Michael Coleman and David Perkey, along with one of the state park rangers.
