Join the Friends of Pinellas Master Naturalists on a guided tour led by the Director of Sustainability at Eckerd College, Evan Bollier. Our trip starts at the mailboxes on campus located on the North side of Edmundson Hall on campus. (See red arrow on map.) After introductions, Evan will take the group to look at the solar panels on the roof of the Environmental Studies building, check out the bicycle shop, and then we’ll visit the recycling center. The tour will culminate with a visit to the Farm. The Farm at Eckerd College is a one-acre sustainable farm and food forest on campus. We will learn about the origins of the farm as a student garden in 2010 to the fully functioning, year-round liberal arts farm it is today.
Plan to bring the following items for your comfort: Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen; comfortable walking shoes, water, snack; camera, binoculars
The pace of this event is leisurely. After the tour, you may want to stay and explore. Part of the Eckerd College campus is waterfront and beach on Boca Ciega Bay. This beautiful location has a trail along the waterfront and multiple areas to enjoy the view, do some birding and enjoy the site.
